Local Resident Honored as Volunteer of the Year
at Arc’s Value Village Store in New Hope
MINNEAPOLIS – Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in New Hope
named Audrey Stein as its Volunteer of the Year for 2007. Audrey was honored
for her tremendous contributions at a recognition event on April 12, 2008.
Audrey first volunteered at Arc’s Value Village when her employer, Ernst &
Young, brought a group of its employees to the store. Although she works
full-time and has two children at home, by putting in an hour or two here and
there on weekday evenings and weekends, Audrey contributed 330 hours in 2007
doing whatever was asked of her when she walked through the store’s door. She
particularly enjoys keeping the sales floor neat and tidy and attractive to
customers. “Audrey is an awesome volunteer. She put in 41 hours in December
alone!” says Store Manager Beth Larson.
“Volunteering at Arc’s Value Village is something I can do to help others and
the flexibility really makes it work for me. I like to spend time at the store.
I find it peaceful, I like the other volunteers and staff — and I take the
opportunity to do a little shopping, too!” says Audrey.
Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers are successful because of
its volunteers, which comprise nearly 75 percent of the stores’ workforce.
Their donations of time and talent mean that more of the proceeds from Arc’s
Value Village support Arc Greater Twin Cities’ programs and services. In 2007,
Arc’s Value Village generated $1.5 million for Arc.
Audrey enjoys doing good work for a good cause and enjoys a flexible volunteer
schedule. If you have two hours a week or eight hours a month to give, find out
