Local Resident Honored as Volunteer of the Year
at Arc’s Value Village Store in Brooklyn Center

MINNEAPOLIS – Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in Brooklyn Center named Richard Braun, as its Volunteer of the Year for 2007. Richard was honored for his tremendous contributions at a recognition event on April 12, 2008.

Since 2003, Richard has rarely missed spending two hours on Tuesday tagging clothes to put on the sales floor. He is willing to jump in and help wherever he is needed and enjoys connecting with staff and volunteers by talking about sports teams and sharing stories about his kids. “Richard supports Arc’s Value Village as a volunteer, a customer who shops all of the sales and as a donor who donated a car to Autos for Arc. We love having him here,” says Store Manager Brookstyn Wallace.

“I like to give back to the community and debated for awhile what to do. One day, I went in to Arc’s Value Village and asked what I could do. People should just do it – volunteering has been just great!” says Richard.

Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers are successful because of its volunteers, which comprise nearly 75 percent of the stores’ workforce. Their donations of time and talent mean that more of the proceeds from Arc’s Value Village support Arc Greater Twin Cities’ programs and services. In 2007, Arc’s Value Village generated $1.5 million for Arc.

Richard enjoys doing good work for a good cause. If you have two hours a week or eight hours a month to give, find out more about volunteering at Arc’s Value Village by calling Volunteer Development Manager Molly Lindblad at 952-915-3652 or visiting www.arcsvaluevillage.org.
