Alexandria Resident Honored as Volunteer of the Year
at Arc's Value Village Store in Brooklyn Center

MINNEAPOLIS – Arc's Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in Brooklyn Center named Alexandria resident Irene Pratt as its Volunteer of the Year for 2006. Pratt was honored for her tremendous contributions at a recognition event on April 14, 2007.

Pratt, who recently moved to Alexandria from the Twin Cities, gave nearly 400 hours of her time last year to Arc’s Value Village. Pratt helps to unpack clothes, tag and put out merchandise and keep the store looking neat and clean. When Pratt returns to the Twin Cities to visit her family or for another reason, she makes time to volunteer at Value Village. "We love to see her smiling face!" says Value Village Assistant Manager Christine Poague.

Pratt says, "The volunteers are so much fun and the Value Village staff are so appreciative and makes you feel so welcome."

Arc’s Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers are successful because of its volunteers, which comprise nearly 75 percent of the stores’ workforce. Their donations of time and talent mean that more of the proceeds from Arc’s Value Village support Arc Greater Twin Cities’ programs and services. Visit www.arcsvaluevillage.org to find out more.
