Local Resident Honored as Volunteer of the Year
at Arc's Value Village Store in Richfield
MINNEAPOLIS – Arc's Value Village Thrift Store & Donation Center in
Richfield named local resident Jan Farley as its Volunteer of the Year for
2006. Farley was honored for her tremendous contributions at a recognition
event on April 14, 2007.
An avid reader, Farley spends about eight hours a week volunteering in the book
section at Arc's Value Village. Farley loves to share her joy of reading with
customers as she helps them select a good read and stocks the shelves with
books.
"Jan's vibrant, outgoing personality makes her a natural ambassador for Arc,"
says Value Village General Manager Erin Geiser.
Farley says, "I don't think of my work as charitable, because it is so
rewarding to be at Value Village. I get more out of it than I give. I love that
we socialize and have fun while working hard."
Arc's Value Village Thrift Stores & Donation Centers are successful because
of its volunteers, which comprise nearly 75 percent of the store' workforce.
Their donations of time and talent mean that more of the proceeds from Arc's
Value Village support Arc Greater Twin Cities' programs and services. Visit
