‘A Celebration of Sorts’ Seeks Volunteers
Metro-Wide for a
Spooktacular Good Time at Arc’s Value Village Sept. 21
MINNEAPOLIS – Hundreds of volunteers from across the Twin Cities metro will
gather at Arc’s Value Village Thrift Store in Brooklyn Center on September 21
for a frightfully good time at the third annual “A Celebration of Sorts,” a
partnership between Arc Greater Twin Cites and Greater Twin Cities United Way.
There’s food, music, prizes and fun in store – all we need to make the day
complete is you!
Volunteers will help Arc’s Value Village prepare for its annual Halloween
Boo-tique by sorting and tagging thousands of Halloween costume and décor
items. Last year, 340 volunteers accomplished in one day what normally would
have taken three weeks. Their amazing results included processing 50,000
Halloween items (two semi-trailer loads!) and hanging and tagging nearly 4,000
additional items. The event generated more than $100,000 to help people with
disabilities.
Many participants in “A Celebration of Sorts” volunteer through United Way
Caring Connection. Volunteers of all kinds – individuals, families, employee
groups, community organizations and others – are invited to sign up for two,
three or four hours and join the fun. No special skills are needed – just a few
hours of time and a willingness to help others in the community. To sign up,
call Arc’s Molly Lindblad at (952) 915-3652 or United Way Caring Connection at
(612) 340-7440, or e-mail celebration@unitedwaytwincities.org.
Arc's Value Village is located at 6330 Brooklyn Boulevard, Brooklyn Center. For
